I don't think that love is game. I think it is part of each one of us, if not all of us. It hurts and it sucks, and when you don't have it, you think you can deal with the constant emptiness. And even when you do have it, it causes stress and weight loss and worry and friction and frustration and temptation, etc. Et cetera. But then there are those moments when you can reach out and slip your hand into his or hers. There's the feeling of brushing hair from your face. There's the smile when they smile. There's the complete wholeness when you stare into their eyes. You don't even have to speak. It just is. Imperfect and human as it is, there's nothing else in the world.

It's a text message before you fall asleep. A little note taped to your windshield. A song played on the radio. A drop of rain on your nose. A small, delicate kiss on your forehead. It's worth it, in the end. All the pain and heartache.

And this is coming from someone who is as lonely and miserable as they come. At least I still have hope. Because, hopeless romantics... we see the world through a skewed telescope, a kaleidescope of color that gives us that hope for which we are known. Really, the term should be Hopeful Romantic.

Don't let the lack of romantic love in your life get you down. Cherish your friendships and trust in the love you have for yourself. The rest will come in time...
